Obviously the service isn't gonna be the best cause its a do-it-yourself kinda place. But man is the food good!

I understand why everyone loves this place. Cool concept. But if you couldn't make a good stir-fry even if they laid out all the ingredients and sauces for you, and gave you pretty color-coded sticks to add extra items to your already gross little meal, you might want to steer clear of Flat Top -- like myself. I'll admit that it's my own fault -- but I don't need to pay $9.99 to make myself some nasty food.

Service only gets 2 stars cause they tend to forget about you and not refil your drink/take a new drink order, which is really all they have to do. But other than that, this is a great Evanston/NU institution...all you can eat stir fry for a decent price if you have a wildcard.

I LOVE this place! Stir-fry lover's heaven! There are many choices and many combinations-- endless! You get a choice of rice, noodles or none, alot of veggies, alot of sauces, meats, and you can choose to have grilled shrimp stick, pita, and you can also choose to turn your creation into a soup, regular stir-fry, or rolled in tiny pitas. Oh, the desserts are incredible!!!! Best Place ever!!

Love this place, Love this place, LOVE THIS PLACE!!! How can you not? It's do it yourself... if it sucks, it's basically your own fault. I mark it down slightly due to the changes after the remodeling earlier this year...no more of some of my fav sauces, no more cheese cubes (shredded cheese just isn't the same), and the service hasn't been quite as good... Overall though, an excellent place to eat every time. Better to go when it's not as busy to avoid aforementioned forgotten roti and/or shrimp (ask your waiter, they'll bring it to you no problem if forgotten) as well as the unexpected mix-ins.

Somehow some weird ingredients always end up in my stir fry even though I didn't put them there. They always forget your shrimp and roti prata.

best food ever! no, i'm not kidding. you pick the ingredients and its your creation, so if it sucks, you have no one to blame but yourself.
