The food is outstanding- anyone who says it isn't fresh doesn't know what fresh fish is. Great quality, the clam chowder is some of the best I've ever had, the pecan and gorgonzolla is outstanding, and the po'boys are great. Expensive, but not overpriced.

Okay people - if you were living on either coast you likely have high standards for seafood. Surprisingly the fish was pretty fresh. Best to stick to the basics here - had a paella which wasn't too good but the fish within was great. Not like seafood from a coastal locale but great for Evanston.

The seafood was very average -- I was inclined to think it wasn't fresh, not to mention that the kitchen isn't very inventive. Service is only okay -- took forever to get our check.

the seafood here is excellent. the po'boys are less than spectacular but if you want to go out to a nice dinner davis street is the place to do it. esp go in january when a 1 and 1/4 pound lobster is 16.95. also they have goose island root beer on tap and it is a fantastic compliment to the seafood. the oysters are really fresh as well. forgo cheaper items on the menu (po' boys) and opt for the more expensive dishes, they are worth every penny. dont go when its really busy unless you are prepared to be there for 2 hrs. later in the evening (past 8) on fridays and saturdays its much much better,. and a great place to take your family for lunch when they come to visit.

This place is just okay--the cioppino and clam chowder are ridiculously salty and the fish sandwiches are just okay. The sides that come with them are pretty average also. Haven't tried any of the more pricey items, but judging from the soups and sandwiches, I'll be saving my money for someplace better.

Let's try being a little less delicious, Davis Street Fish Market.

Steer clear of Davis Street Fish Market. Not only did we have to wait 45 minutes past our resevervation in the uncomfortably crowded front entrance, but we were practically ignored by our waiter during our meal as well. The food was mediocre at best, the decor hideous, and the ambience nonexistent. Absolutely not worth the hype.
